Santa Clara is a very healthy, safe, walkable suburban city, with many trees and bikeways. The city provides municipal power to its residents, rather than relying on the Pacific Gas and Electric company. Through Silicon Valley Power, residents of Santa Clara can promote renewable power sources; they have worked together to provide solar panels to cover the parking lots of various schools and large institutions. The pool at Pomeroy Green is heated by a solar heating system provided and maintained by the City. The City is one of the first in California to implement a plan for Smart Development, adding apartments and condos along the main transit corridors of El Camino Real and the Caltrain tracks – this allows for denser housing without a drastic increase in car traffic. Caltrain connects Santa Clara with both San Francisco and San Jose; it is accessible at two stations in Santa Clara: Lawrence and Santa Clara Central stations. Amtrak connects Santa Clara with Sacramento and San Jose – you can catch Amtrak at the Great America and Santa Clara Central stations.
Within Santa Clara, Pomeroy Green is on the central western side, handy to the Lawrence Expressway and to major bike paths connecting us to Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and the San Francisco Bay Trail. We’re within walking distance to Pomeroy Elementary School, Santa Clara High School, Central Park, the award-winning Santa Clara City Library, Carmichael Park, the best Korean and Middle Eastern grocery stores in northern California, and many Indian, Korean, and other restaurant options.
